Title: Assistant Accountant - Receivables

AIC Kijabe Hospital a church based hospital is seeking to fill the following position: The purpose of this position is to provide financial accounting services and assisting the Accountant in maintaining the General Ledger. The Assistant Accountant is the contact person to the corporate clients of the Hospital.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To ensure an efficient and Christ like work environment where other departments, staffs, patients and their relatives receives excellent services.
  • To complete and manage issues regarding the hospital General Ledger.
  • To timely receive and compile departmental operations data and post them to the GL after the approval of the Accountant.
  • To ensure that the Accounts Receivable are accurately reconciled on a monthly basis.
  • To verify authority letters against sample signatures before approving to charge clients accounts.
  • To prepare and send invoices, statements and supporting documents to corporate clients and follow up on payments.
  • To manage the Missionary, students and Staff Accounts. To send monthly Email reports to the account holders, encourage them to clear any debit balances and report any defaulters to the Accountant.
  • To assist the Internal and External Auditors in their annual exercise. To avail the required audit schedules and supporting documents and offer answers to audit queries.
  • To set the objectives and standards of the duties analyzed in your job Description. This includes writing the procedures you go through in performing your duties well and ensure continuity.
  • Be responsible for the financial integrity of AIC Kijabe Hospital and inform the Finance Director and Accountant of all issues relevant to the financial operations of KH.
  • Keep the working area and files presentable and actively contribute to the quality improvement of the Business Office services.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree (B.com Accounting / Finance Option), Certified public accountant (CPA-K)
  • At least 2 years work experience in a similar position or
  • CPA Part III with more than 2 years experience
  • Must be computer literate with high proficiency in Ms Excel
  • Knowledge of the use of Accounting packages is necessary
