VISA PROCESSING OFFICER (LE5 & LE6)

 AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISSION - NAIROBI

 A vacancy exists on a contractual basis in the Immigration Section at the Australian High Commission.  The position is to be filled August 2013.

DUTIES LE5
Specific duties include:
  • Participate in the team environment
  • Assist with the efficient processing of visa applications
  • Enter and retrieve data from computer based systems
  • Provide a high level of client service at all times when dealing with members of the public directly at our service counters, by phone and electronically
  • Check for completeness and validity of applications and be responsible for collection of public monies in accordance with Chief Executive Instructions (CEI)
  • Assist with the management of mail and filing within the office
  • Assist with general clerical duties and other duties as directed
  • Organise interview trips including preparation of the casework, travel, interpreters and other necessary equipment for the team
  • Engage/liaise regularly with our key external stakeholders
  • Prepare citizenship applications for decision to the Manager
  • Travel both within Kenya and other countries for immigration-related work
  • Conduct investigative interviews with our clients
  • Research, analyse and prepare reports

 DUTIES LE6
In addition to the above duties, the successful applicant of the LE6 position will also include:
  • Interpret and apply migration legislation and policy in a decision making environment
  • Prepare lawful decision records and complex case assessments
  • Research and analyse information by drawing on various sources of data

 SALARY AND BENEFITS
Starting monthly salary for an LE5 position is from Ksh 93,235.  The LE6 position will have a monthly salary from Ksh 127,227.  Benefits include payment of medical insurance for employee and contributions for dependents, 22 days recreation leave per year, a performance payment scheme and opportunities for incremental advancement.
