Finance & Operations Manager - Voi, Coastal Region


Our client is one of the leading ethical Clothing Factories in the world. They are currently seeking to recruit a Finance & Operations Manager to oversee the entirety of the organisation’s operations and have a strategic vision and direction for the Organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work alongside with the Managing Director to prepare annual budget and forecast.
• Provide support and guidance on the Finance, Risk Management and internal controls.
• Reviewing existing processes and controls, with particular focus on revenue, inventory and purchasing making recommendations.
• Overall operation and management of the Company.

• Experience with initiating and leading improvement programmes, strategic plans and overseeing change.
• Must have strong treasury and cash management background.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

• Demonstrated ability to work successfully under pressure.

Senior Financial Analyst

Our client, a Renewable Energy Project in Rift Valley is looking to recruit a Senior Financial Analyst.
The successful candidate MUST have proven financial modelling experience working with the big four audit company, proven experience working with project on the range of Euro 200 M and excellent experience in drawdowns against large international lender agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer support to CEO in preparing Annual Operating plans.
• Ensure compliance with all shareholders, lenders and government agreements.
• Monitor performance of the project against the base case financial model and prepare regular updated financial models.
• Ensure compliance with tax, legislative and statutory requirements for both the project company and the community trust.
• Interface with and management of company secretarial provider.

Qualification & Skills:

Finance Manager

Financial Controller for a Solar Company

Our client, a renewable energy start up company, is looking for a Financial Controller for its offices in Nairobi.  He/She will be responsible for leading the finance division of the Kenya operations. He/She should demonstrate mastery of accounting procedures and standards, strong understanding of financial reports and excellent cash management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the quarterly budgeting process for the Kenya operations. Liaise with all Division Heads to gather input for the quarterly budget.
• Lead the weekly budgeting process for all the counties of the Kenya operations.
• Monitor cash inflow and outflow in Kenya.
• Supervise the development of monthly financial accounts for the Kenya operations to a strict timetable.
• Lead on financial reporting to key funders and working capital providers.
• Lead the annual auditing process for the Kenya operations.
• Ensure the company complies all PAYE, VAT and Tax return and reporting requirements.
• Manage the Collections Officers Team of the Kenya operations.
• Oversee the follow-up on at risk debts and decide on debts write-off.
• Ensure weekly debt reports are developed accurately and sent on-time to County Managers.
• Liaise with suppliers to place new product orders.
• Manage stock, keep track of inflow and outflow of products and develop weekly inventory reports.

Qualification:

• Bachelor degree in economics, business, finance or accounting ACCA or CPA finalist.
• 7-9 years of experience in a financial services firm or an accounting firm.
• Experience in cash management and developing financial reports.
• Experience in equity and debt fundraising.
• Experience in working in a credit collections department and procurement.
• Strong commitment to processes and procedures.
• Capacity to work under minimum supervision and support.
• Excellent time-management, organisation and leadership skills.
• Good work ethics, professionalism  and integrity.
Experience of cloud-based software, Xero.

Financial Controller 

Our client, high end safari group, is looking for a Finance Controller for its offices in Nairobi. The successful candidate will report directly to the General Manager and will be part of the local Management Team. He / she will be responsible for the Finance Team and of all Finance responsibilities and processes. Experience in the Hospitality/Restaurant/Catering industry is a MUST!

Responsibilities:

• Identify potential business risks and ensure corrective actions are taken.

Finance Director


Our client an IT firm based in Nairobi is looking to recruit a Finance Director.  The ideal candidate must have experience in the big 4 or boutique investment firms.

Regional Finance Director

Our client, a dynamic International Protective Service is looking to fill the position of a Finance Director. The successful candidate MUST have International experience working in the security and defence sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the financial integration.
• Ensure compliance with all financial statutory reporting requirements in the appropriate jurisdictions.
• Effectively lead and direct the Finance teams across each operational countries and regional units.
• Implementing and maintaining the CoA as well as P&L and Balance Sheet formats across all legal East Africa entities.
• Preparation, analysis and reconciliation of monthly books of account and GL for the Africa corporate and regional reporting units.
• Manage bank accounts (opening / closing, new deposits, transfers etc.)
• Manage weekly cash flow reports.
• Prepare consolidated monthly and ad hoc reports for all East Africa legal entities to be sent to Parent Company.

• Liaise directly with the auditors and prepare information as requested from Parent Company auditors.

Qualification:

• Must demonstrate detailed financial awareness at senior leadership level including East Africa.
• Must have CPA/ACCA qualification.
• Must have a bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a fast paced environment.
Candidates with experience in the security and defense sector would have an add advantage.
• Controls costs and thinks in terms of profit and loss and added value.
• Manages time effectively.
• Works in an ethical manner, is systematic, methodical and orderly.

Finance & HR Director

Our client, one of the world’s leading companies for Solar Home Systems with approximately 500 passionate employees, delivering a clean and affordable alternative to fossil fuels for low-income households, living without access to reliable energy is looking to fill the position of a Finance & HR Director for their offices based in Nairobi, Kenya. The successful candidate will be part of the management board and responsible for the administration’s strategy of their country operations in Kenya as well as the related day-to-day management, which include HR, Finance, Customer Finance and IT departments. In this position you will be reporting directly to the Group CFO in Germany.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Management of the complete spectrum of accounting and reporting.
• Financial Management of the annual budgeting, financial analysis and controlling.
• Ensure liquidity and access to financial means in consideration of national compliance regulations.
• Monitor and optimize all administrative processes and commercial decisions within the organization.
• Implement HR strategies for our Kenyan operations.
• Monitor annual staff planning, salary and commission forecasts.
• Set up new departments, which will entail hiring/guiding of up to 10 direct reports.

Qualification:

• Business degrees with focus on finance/controlling.
• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience ideally in an international work environment.
• Possess sound knowledge of local as well as international regulations in taxation and labour law.
• Skilled in the daily business of cash flow management, budgeting processes, cost analyses and treasury operations.
• Personally you pursue a systematic, structured and reliable way of work.
• In addition to your affinity to finance you possess pronounced social competencies for teamwork.
• Target driven and dynamic and you consider your financial role as an important contribution to the business development of the entire enterprise.

Monthly gross salary: Ksh. 350,000 - 450,000/= (Approx. 3,500 - 4,500 USD) depending on skills and experience

Finance Manager for an Energy project in Kenya

Our client, an International Renewable Energy company, is looking for a strong Finance Manager for its project in Kenya. The project will play a crucial role in enabling Kenya to achieve its “Vision 2030” objectives. The successful candidate will manage and report on the financial performance of the project company and all the contracts that have been entered into to construct, operate and finance the project. International experience is a MUST!

Key Responsibilities;

• Support to CEO in preparing annual operating plans (AOPs).
• Ensure compliance with all shareholders, lender and government agreements.
• Develop a contract management framework to ensure all SPV obligations under the relevant contracts are being monitored and complied with.
• Prepare budgets and forecasts, and financial reports for management, shareholders and lenders.
• Monitor performance of the project against the base case financial model and prepare regular updated financial models.
• Manage relationship with OPIC and the agent bank under the financing agreements and preparation of updated disbursement requests, etc.
• Coordinate the draw down of funds from lenders and equity investors.
• Treasury and cash management, including foreign exchange exposure monitoring.
• Source and manage the following systems: GL system, reporting systems, economic development reporting systems, online banking systems and infrastructure.
• Establish appropriate policies and procedures to ensure that the reporting systems are fit for purpose and are being utilised effectively.
• Audit liaison and preparation of annual financial statements.
• Compliance with tax, legislative and statutory requirements for both the project company and the community trust.
• Ensure compliance with all cosec and defined regulatory requirements notwithstanding that certain functions will be outsourced per SLA.
• Preparation of economic development forecasts and budgets.

Qualifications;

• A university degree or similar - MBA is an advantage.
• Ideally experience in the Kenyan power sector.
• Strong project management skills.
• Excellent transaction and asset management skills.
• Strong in financial modelling and scheduling.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Experience in project accounting & finance.
• Experience in developing management information systems.
• Strong in risk management & mitigation.
• In-depth experience of working with lenders, financiers & lawyers in delivering power sector projects.

Monthly gross salary: Ksh. 600,000/= (Approx.6,000 USD)

Chief Financial Officer – Kigali, Rwanda

A vibrant and unique company, providing New Technology Solutions in Rwanda, is looking for a motivated Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in Kigali. The CFO has a key role, which entails a great amount of responsibility as well as adaptability, particularly in the start-up phase. The role requires a solution driven attitude where the time will be split between the strategic direction of the business and helping it scale in a meaningful way for growth as well as building up processes and systems to support future growth.

Key Responsibilities;

• Prepare a financial plan for the next three to five years for the company.
• Prepare balance sheet and P&L for the company.
• Forecasting, planning and regular analysis of KPIs.
• To come up with policies and guidelines on how to mitigate on market and credit risk.
• Identify the parameters of cash flow risk.
• Analyze and assess the company’s exposure to the market risk.
• Monitor that operational risk mitigation are implemented by the relevant departmental units.

Regional Finance Manager

Our client an International Security Company is seeking to recruit a Finance Manager. The job entails financial reporting, control and administration functions in East Africa, plus responsibility for the flow of financial information to the Africa Regional Director and the various Boards and investors. She/he will be required to manage the financial function from Nairobi, overseeing the finance teams and their operations across the region – primarily South Sudan and Kenya.

Key Responsibilities;

• Direct responsibility for the regional finance function and with functional responsibility.
• Provide effective, timely, well-analysed management accounts.
• Manage cash requirements of the regional entities on a daily basis.
• Oversee the maintenance, development and implementation of sound financial systems.
• Manage the production of statutory accounts and other reports required.
• Ensure compliance with all tax regulations in South Sudan, Kenya and Somalia.
• Assist the Africa Regional Director with HR requirements.

Qualifications;

• Must be an experienced Finance professional with Finance Degree.
• Previous experience and knowledge of managing the finance function, ideally in an emerging market.
• International experience preferable.
• Demonstrable skills in terms of business planning, budgeting and effective cost control, with tax.
• Effective communicator with excellent persuasive and interpersonal skills.
• Must be comfortable with travel within East Africa.
• Must have experience working in Kenya, Sudan and Somalia.
