Key Functions of the Job
Lead and coordinate the effective management of finance and general administration functions in Finance department;
Develop/institutionalize strong internal control financial systems for the organization;

Leads the process of developing annual budget for SOS CV KE;
Ensures the organization meets all its financial commitments to the donors and is the contact person for donors in all finance related matters;

Support in Implementation of the ‘One Friend’ financing strategy as per the SOS CV KE strategic plan;

Ensures that the monthly and other annual and periodic financial reports are forwarded to management and donors within the stipulated deadlines;
Meeting SOS CV KE legal obligations (e.g. supporting the annual audit and preparing returns for government departments).

Required Qualifications/Abilities/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration( Finance or Accounting option);
Must have an MBA;
CPA (K);
8 years of demonstrable understanding & experience in financial management. At least 5 years should be within an NGO setup in a managerial position;
Experience of financial reporting to donors/development partners;
Must be a team player;
Efficient in computerized accounting systems.

PAYROLL ACCOUNTANT (JOBS AND VACANCIES IN KENYA OCTOBER 2013)

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Work closely with the HR department to prepare accurate inputs, deductions and computations for monthly payroll processing
  • Generate accurate and timely monthly payment vouchers for statutory deductions such as PAYENSSFNHIFHELB and other authorized pay deductions

  • Prepare monthly payroll cost analysis and related budget monitoring reports and
  • Generate remuneration statistics for authorised surveys and stake holder reports
  • Generate and ensure timely distribution of monthly pay slips

Employee Specifications
  • CPA Part II or higher
  • 3 years experience in Accounting and specifically practicing Payroll accounting
  • Proficiency in the use of computerized accounting systems and Microsoft suite packages
  • Good and current knowledge of Tax and Statutory deduction regulations

Dispenser for Safe Water Programme
Dispensers for Safe Water (DSW ) is a growing entrepreneurial program within IPA working to reduce the 1.6 million childhood deaths each year from diarrhoea, a leading cause of child mortality in Kenya and globally.
The programme is doing this by deploying Chlorine Dispensers—a simple, low-cost innovation proven to dramatically increase rates of household water treatment, which significantly reduces diarrhoea and other waterborne disease.
Chlorine Dispensers have been recognised by a wide network of supporters, including the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Local Government, Lake Victoria North Water Services Board and major international foundations and implementers.
Kenya is DSW’s flagship programme that has transitioned from a proof-of-concept stage to large-scale implementation with a team of about 100 field staff in Kenya, serving around 600,000 people with access to safe water.

The Role:-
An Accounts Assistant does the Accounting /Admn tasks at a DSW field office and reports to the Area Coordinator with a dotted line reporting relationship with the Accountant based at Kisumu.
 

Responsibilities
 

Accounting
Under the general guidance of the Accountant, assist in the following tasks:
Handle cash, cheque and airtime disbursements
Receive and check imprest requests and returns, ensuring that proper documentation is filed for each transaction, relevant approvals have been obtained, etc.
Conduct cash counts on regular basis, including after withdrawals
Prepare cheques to be signed by appropriate managers
Maintain and file financial records and post accounts data into Quickbooks
Update accounting records as and when transactions take place, and assist Accountant to ensure that proper documentation is filed for each transaction
Maintain fixed assets register and ensure that assets inventory records are updated regularly
Liaise with Accountant in preparation and review of staff imprest accounts on a regular basis
Assist Accountant /Coordinator in overall: Budgeting, Reporting, Payroll, Procurement
Management of Office Store / Inventory/Office management
Distribute supplies from store as needed
Maintain accurate records of all office supplies purchased and distributed
Conduct periodic stock counts
Compile a list of stock-in-hand at the store, so as to facilitate new orders
Submit requests, in a timely manner, to relevant managers when re-stocking is needed
Filing of important documents at the field office
Support Coordinator in managing annual leave schedules, applications ,and filing
Support Coordinator in managing staff allocation and submission to the Accountant
Other tasks as assigned/delegated by supervisors

  • Motor cycle riding skills or willingness to learn and ride a motorcycle.
  • Salary attached to this position is within the range of Kes 18000-23000 per month gross

Title: Investments Manager

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer
Job Summary

The jobholder is primarily responsible for managing the origination, evaluation, structuring, deal financing, executing, and exiting and portfolio management of controlling and non-controlling Quoted and Unquoted - Private equity investments, Fixed Income Securities, Real Estate Investments, Short Term / Fixed Deposit Investments among others to achieve a targeted return.
 

Educational Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree preferably in Finance or Accounting.
  • Possession of CFA, CPA-K or ACCA.
  • Investment training would be an added advantage

Relevant Job Experience/Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in managing quoted and unquoted private equity investments, investment banking, corporate finance, financial analysis, fund management or asset management within an investment or financial services company. 
  • Experience in conducting company valuations is essential.

Additional Information
 

A key part of this role involves aligning investee companies to the Company`s interests and ensuring accuracy with regard to due diligences and company valuations. 
The role also involves planning at least three (3) months ahead of time and involves preparing investment appraisal reports, weekly status reports and delivering formal presentations. 
The role occasionally experiences leisure disruption.
