Cost Accountant

Our client a leading Regional Manufacturing group is looking to recruit a Cost Accountant. The ideal candidate must have prior experience in Cost Accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
  • ·         Perform activity of covering production costs and costs of sales.
  • ·         Product development and overhead.
  • ·         Compares actual to estimates.
  • ·         Analysis of raw material inventory.
  • ·         Prepares periodic reports.
  • ·         Conduct ongoing process constraint analyses.
  • ·         Report on margins by product and division.
  • ·         Report on periodic variances, causes, spending variances.
  • ·         Analyse capital budgeting requests.
  • ·         Perform cost accumulation tasks as a member of the target costing group.
  • ·         Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
  • ·         Investigate variances and resolve issues.
  • ·         Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies.
  • ·         Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required ( accounting principles).


Qualifications:

  • ·         Minimum Five years’ work experience in Cost Accounting.
  • ·         Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or equivalent.
  • ·         CPA (K).
  • ·         Experience with Big 4 is a plus.
  • ·         High attention to detail, strong analytical skills.
  • ·         Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software.
  • ·         Systems knowledge and familiarity. 
  • ·         Proven knowledge of accounting standards and procedures, laws, rules & regulations.
  • ·         Ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task.
  • ·         Ability and drive to work independently, solution oriented.
  • ·         Ability to determine work priorities, make decisions and take appropriate actions.
  • ·         Ability to meet schedules and deadlines of the work area.
  • ·         Ability to communicate effectively.

Senior Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

• Post financial data to appropriate accounts in an automated accounting system.

Chief Accountant - Five star Hotel in Nairobi

Our client, a five star hotel in Nairobi, is looking for a Chief Accountant. The successful candidate will be responsible to oversee the daily operations of accounting department including payroll, receiving and stores. He / She will also assist in the preparation of financial operating statements and reports in accordance with Corporate Policy and Procedures as well as supervise and prepare month-end balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis. MUST HAVE WORKED FOR A HOTEL!

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement the overall financial plans and accounting practices of HQ.
• Oversee financial and accounting systems controls and standards.
• Manage all financial aspects of trust funds, including replenishment requests, expense data, fund balances, and charging information.
• Conducts weekly cash counts of all cash funds.
• Proactively analyze and interpret financial data and recommends changes to improve systems.
• Ensure sufficient operating funds are securely held at all times.
• Advise Director of Finance & Operation Mgmt of any budget irregularities/potential fiscal problems.
• Monitor inventory counts to ensure for accuracy and balance with accounting records.
• Review all audits, vouchers, and tax returns submitted to the Dir. of Financial.

• Analyze general ledger account on a monthly basis.
• Assist the Department of Human Resources with the recruitment of accounting staff .
• Train, motivate and conduct performance appraisals in coordination with the Training Department.
• Ensures all financial transactions are recorded with accepted accounting principles and established accounting policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting from a trusted institution.
• At least 4 years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in supervisory level.
• Familiarity with hotel operating systems and software.
• Good administrative, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• Computer literate and proficient in English.

Monthly gross  salary: Ksh. 180’000-200’000 ( Approx. 1,800 – 2,000 USD ) depending on experience and skills

Financial Controller for a Solar Company

Our client, a renewable energy start up company, is looking for a Financial Controller for its offices in Nairobi.  He/She will be responsible for leading the finance division of the Kenya operations. He/She should demonstrate mastery of accounting procedures and standards, strong understanding of financial reports and excellent cash management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the quarterly budgeting process for the Kenya operations. Liaise with all Division Heads to gather input for the quarterly budget.
• Lead the weekly budgeting process for all the counties of the Kenya operations.
• Monitor cash inflow and outflow in Kenya.
• Supervise the development of monthly financial accounts for the Kenya operations to a strict timetable.
• Lead on financial reporting to key funders and working capital providers.
• Lead the annual auditing process for the Kenya operations.
• Ensure the company complies all PAYE, VAT and Tax return and reporting requirements.
• Manage the Collections Officers Team of the Kenya operations.

Qualification:

• Experience in equity and debt fundraising.
• Experience in working in a credit collections department and procurement.
• Strong commitment to processes and procedures.

Financial Accountant – Kigali, Rwanda

Our client a credit reporting agency is looking to recruit a Financial Accountant. He/she will be responsible for overall general ledger accounting for the Rwanda business entity and to ensure that the accounting data is captured correctly and in conformity with the accounting policies for the group.  The suitable candidate Must be a Rwandan National and should be able to speak fluent English and French.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring proper maintenance of general ledger accounts for the company.
• Ensuring proper accounting procedures are adhered to and that all accounting information is captured.
• Complete bank reconciliations and ensure they are up to date with each month.
• Updating and maintaining accurate assets registers for the Rwanda Office.
• Maintaining a fixed asset schedule to account for purchases, disposal and depreciation of fixed assets.
• To ensure that depreciation is been posted correctly and consistently.
• Assist in balance sheet reconciliations and confirm the accuracy of the balances contained therein.

• Maintain and determine the specific accounts that need approval for bad debts provisioning.
• Prepare the monthly payroll in good time and ensure all employee statutory deductions are paid before due dates.
• Ensure total compliance with regard to all tax payments and filings as required by the law.
• Ensuring that all statutory deductions are made and payments done in good time as per the local legislation.
• Tracking the tax and statutory deductions payments and advising management on exceptional cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Must have completed CPA II 
• Three years or more of relevant work experience.
• Good knowledge of financial accounting and business management skills.
• Good understanding of corporate finance procedures.
• Attention to detail and analytical skills.

Collection Manager

Our client, a leading Micro-Finance Company based in Nairobi that offers personal loan to permanently employ Civil servants is seeking to recruit a Collection Manager. The Commercial Manager will be responsible for overseeing the collection of all off – payroll collections. The successful candidate MUST have knowledge of debt collection laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head of Collections to design policies, processes and procedures to ensure efficient and effective off-payroll collections.
• Direct debit and standing order deductions through the various banks and ACH deductions.
• Handle Mpesa and Post-dated cheque payments/collections through the various banks and ACH deductions.
• Dealing with all issues affecting third party deductions.
• All direct debit, post-dated cheques and standing order submission to banks.
• All issues affecting deductions in the various markets including banks.
• Listing clients at Credit Reference Bureau or legal demand procedures in the case of a default.

• Management of shared call centre collections resource in order to retrieve payments.
• Daily, weekly and monthly reporting on off-payroll collections performance to executives and senior management.

• Undertake any additional duties that may be prescribed by the Head of Collections.

Qualifications:

• At least 4 years’ experience a financial institution (an insurance institution is advantageous) holding a similar position.
• Degree in Business Management or related field.
Must be a CPA (K).
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to think out of the box and the flexibility to interact with all levels of personnel.
• Must be familiar with setting off-payroll policies and must have successfully implemented off-payroll policies with tangible results
• Must be multitask oriented, organized, set priorities and meet deadlines and take pride in one’s work.
• Must have experience in supervisory/management responsibilities on Collections related projects.

Group Management Accountant

Our clients a dynamic Automotive Company based in Nairobi is seeking to recruit a Group Management Accountant who will compile, aggregate, consolidated and analyse business planning/performance related information pertaining their East Africa businesses. The ideal candidates MUST have over 6 years working experience with experience in the big 4 audit firms.

Key Responsibilities;

• Manage monthly financial reporting, group consolidation process and review consolidated financial statements.
• Manage quarterly analytical review of consolidated results, including streamlining data collection.
• Work closely with local finance personnel and external auditors on key drivers of financial fluctuations.
• Collaborate with external auditors to ensure preparation of consolidated audited financial statements.
• Collate & analyse the strategic plan, budget, quarterly forecasts and presentations.
• Analyse and present the financial and operating performance of the businesses periodically for review by all levels of management.

Qualifications;

• Must have over 5 years of finance experience.

• Must be a CPA (K) and have a BA in finance/accounting.

Project Accountant

IntraHealth International is seeking to fill the following position:
 
Project Accountant 
 

Reporting to the Finance, Contracts and Grants Manager, the Project Accountant will undertake finance and accounting responsibilities involving but not limited to maintenance of accurate general ledger records and timely payment to staff and suppliers

S/he will be responsible for managing accountabilities for travel imprests in addition to overall monitoring of payables and receivables ledgers to ensure reconciled accurate balances are maintained at all times.

Essential duties:
  • Manage staff advances and accountability processes ensuring that activity advances are processed and accounted for as per policy; all records are input into the General Ledger in a timely and accurately manner and, ensure all amounts liquidated through travel advances are receipted and banked promptly
  • Prepare, maintain and submit accurate reconciled M&IE analysis and receivables ageing report as required on a monthly basis.
  • Manage the mobile money processing by preparing payment vouchers in support of payments for activity and travel advances
  • Compile, analyze, code and post all transactions for travel and activity advances to the general ledger on a daily basis and not later than 24hrs following the payment date
  • Assist in the month-end preparation and reporting tasks to ensure that reports are ready for HQ review by the 5th working day of each month
  • Manage the duty and tax exemption process for qualifying VAT under USAID funded projects by ensuring that exemption applications (DA1 forms) are prepared in a timely, accurate and complete manner
  • Provide support in the processing of Suppliers payments, Grants and Petty cash portfolio as required
Education and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field with a CPA (K)
  • At Least 4 years working experience in busy accounting department.
  • Experience with USAID rules & regulations in a donor funded organization
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft office packages

Chief Accountant

Our client, a Business Strategy Consultancy is in need of a Chief Accountant.

Reporting to: General Manager
 
Job Purpose: To prepare and manage business financial information for regulators and stakeholders by providing financial reports for compliance, decision making and strategic reviews.
 
We are looking for a candidate with experience working in the Insurance Industry.
 

Duties & Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for the overall function of the accounts function under the direction of the General Manager 


Key Responsibilities 
  • Participate in and support the timely and accurate preparation of budgets and constantly monitor expenditure. 
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and reports in an accurate and timely manner and prepare all the documents that are required to support the annual auditing exercise. 
  • Prepare cash flows statements and Bank reconciliation 
  • Ensure that all accounting transactions comply with set financial systems and controls and initiate remedial action where this is not the case. 
  • Prepare budgets in consultation with the General Manager, ensure budgetary controls are in place, monitor and report on variances. 
  • Prepare and continually review the age analysis and the payment to sales turnover ratios and advise the management team on the credit worthiness of individual accounts. 
  • Ensure the timely settlement of company liabilities, in line with the company’s set policies.
  • Compile tax reports/statutory returns, ensuring that these are submitted in a timely manner to the relevant authorities and consult with tax advisors as and when necessary. 
  • Liaise with the external auditors during interim and annual audit and follow-up recommendations of internal audit findings 
  • Manage and evaluate departmental staff so as to ensure the department meets company’s requirements.
Qualifications and Experience 
  • Bachelors Degree in a business related discipline 
  • Fully qualified accountant e.g. CPA (K) / ACCA /etc. 
  • MBA shall be an added advantage 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Chief Accountant in a large organization. 
  • Experience in direct involvement of working with ERP systems 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Analytical, technical and logical approach to problem solving 
  • Self motivated and quick to take initiative 
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Credit Controller Job in Kenya

Credit Controller

The primary function of a Credit Controller is coordinating the debts of existing creditors and deciding whether to allow credit to a debtor & managing all money borrowed or owed to your business.

It is vital that a Credit Controller builds and maintains close links with all customers, to ensure smooth running of accounts and encourage timely recovery of payments.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensure internal controls around accounts receivable are complied with
  • Ensure that customer credit is managed as per company policy and Budgeted debtors days are achieved through timely collection of overdue accounts
  • Liaise with customers to ensure good customer relationship is maintained
  • Ensure that customer credit limits are strictly managed as per company policy
  • Ensure an exemption report of accounts with exceeded limits is generated monthly and circulated to HOF, MD and Head of Sales
  • Ensure that exemption reports on customers with overdue accounts are generated and circulated to members of the management team on a weekly basis
  • Ensure customer statement are generated on a monthly basis and passed to Head of Sales for onward distribution to customers
  • Ensure that customer accounts aging analysis is generated, reviewed and red flag raised on customers with overdue accounts
  • Ensure that the debtors aging report is accurate through timely and accurate allocation of payments against invoices
  • Ensure that the NIL invoice report is run on a weekly basis and circulated to HOF, MD & Head of supply chain
  • Ensure that the AR ledger  agrees with the GL control accounts (A/C 026000, 026002 & 042100) by 9th day after month end close
  • Maintenance of the provisions and accruals accounts and ensuring that sundry debtors accounts is properly reconciled on a monthly basis
  • Capturing of drafts into MFG
  • Resolving customers queries on a timely basis
  • Performing any other work as may be allocated form time to time
Qualifications

Management Accountant

Management Accountant

Management accountant will interpret financial information to make business decisions. 

He / She will provide business data and analysis to managers within organizations to assist in business decision-making and control.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Finance lead in the Commercial planning meeting, and Optimization process
  • Collate the  Risks & Opportunities from CPP & for input into the Finance planning meeting for consolidation into total business R&O
  • Proper costing of all new product development initiatives (NPDs)
  • Act as the finance support for the commercial side of the business
  • Standard cost maintenance including; ensuring that BOMs are updated from PLM to MFG, review and update  of  routings,  cost simulation  for  budget, PF0,PF1,PF2  and  5-YP  purposes,  updating  of standard costs as per group guidelines
  • Product  costing  for  new  products  and  active involvement in the NPD & PLM process as Finance representative
  • Giving financial advise to NPD teams to ensure that proposed projects meet the company ROI targets
  • Proper  tracking  of  M&C  spend  and  ensuring  that there  is  no  overspend,  passing  of  monthly  M&C journals and reconciliation of the same
  • Lead & co-ordinate the budgeting, PFs  and 5YP planning process
  • Advising the business on the costs forecast and simulating the costs to be used for the purposes of budgets ,profit forecasts and 5-YP
  • Monthly reporting: In-charge of the monthly management account, Regional & Group reporting
  • Generating Brands P&L on a monthly basis and advising brand managers on performance of their brands & also sending it to Team Africa lead for consolidation
  • Managing & maintenance of the fixed asset module in MFG
  • Running the depreciation charge on a monthly basis Ensuring that FA additions are properly classified
  • Ensuring that the Fixed asset register agrees to the physical assets
Qualifications
  • Degree in Business related field: Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • CPA K a must
  • 2 Years Credit control in FMCGs Industry
  • Knowledge of ERP SAP accounting software
