Green House Technical Manager - Khartoum, Sudan.

Our client, the biggest Conglomerate in Sudan is looking to recruit a Green House Technical Manager for its operation in Sudan. The successful candidate MUST be an expert in horticulture, plant cultivation, pest and disease control and greenhouse technology. He/She will be responsible to plan, organize, direct, control, and coordinate activities of workers engaged in propagating, cultivating, and harvesting horticultural specialties such as mediterranean vegetables, salads and herbs.

Key Responsibilities;

• Position and regulate plant irrigation systems, and program environmental and irrigation control computers.
• Prepare soil for planting, and plant or transplant seeds, bulbs, and cuttings.
• Assign work schedules and duties of greenhouse staff, and supervise their work.
• Determine plant growing cycles and  conditions, such as, hydroponics, or natural settings.
• Set planting, care schedules and cultivation plans.
• Determine types and quantities of horticultural plants to be grown, based on budgets, projected sales volumes, and/or executive directives.
• Hire workforce, and train them in greenhouse operation techniques.
• Identify plants as well as problems such as diseases, weeds, and insect pests.
• Select and purchase seeds, plant nutrients, disease control chemicals, and equipment.
• Tour work areas to observe work being done, to inspect crops, and to evaluate plant and soil conditions.
• Ensure proper application of pesticides and fertilisers to plants.
• Coordinate clerical, recordkeeping, inventory, requisitioning, and procurement activities.
• Training & knowledge sharing with local staff.

Qualifications;

• Bachelor of agriculture (engineering).
• Previous experience in similar job role or minimum 5 years’ experience (senior role).
• Able to identify practical solutions during greenhouse operation.
• Problem solving and diagnostic skills.
• Detailed up to date knowledge of appropriate technical discipline.
• Communication and interpersonal skills and ability to liaise and coordinate with others.
• Vast and extensive experience in greenhouse technology and other related fields.

Monthly gross salary: Ksh. 709,000/= plus medical and other benefits (Approx. 7,090 USD)
