SCOPE OF WORK – ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1.  Provide technical support to Ministry of Health in the implementation of quality Nutrition interventions at the community level

2. Promote and support training of the Health workers and nutritionist and build the capacity of all the Nutrition partners based on

the mapping and understanding of available capacity

3. In close collaboration with Nutrition program manager  link and cooperate with the MOH and partners in joint supportive

supervision activities and  ensuring quality nutrition  data reporting, according to MOH standard requirements

4. Ensure that the Nutrition interventions are in line with existing policy guidance, technical standards, and relevant Government

5. Advocates the mainstreaming of nutrition in county  Programming frameworks such as CIDP , CHSSP  as well as relevant

6. Support community level interventions and liaise with community strategy focal and CHEWs in  promotion of health and

nutrition messaging through community units and other key community influencers

7. Represent International Medical Corps in sub county health and nutrition meetings and maintain good working relationship

with partners at the county and national level

8. Identify core advocacy concerns, including resource requirements, and contribute key messages to broader advocacy

9. Provide written  reports  and discuss with  program managers  on the Nutrition performances , main challenges and lessons

10. Participate in  compilation of quality  programme documents, reviews  (proposals,  monthly and quarterly reports , briefs ,

11. Supporting planning, M&E, and logistic systems with regards to nutrition activities.

12.  Support in the development of the project’s SBCC, community level activities and communications content materials in close

collaboration with key actors in the county.

13. Strengthen integration of  nutrition component into other sectors as appropriate

14. Assist in monitoring the nutrition situation in the County, including participating in nutrition assessment and surveillance as

Personnel Qualifications (Special training/experience required) provide 6-7 requirements:

1. Must have a Minimum qualification of  Degree in nutrition  and /or proven technical and administrative skills

2. Registered with the relevant professional body.

3. At least over 2 years working with NGOs/ UN agencies in complex emergency context.

4. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in emergency nutrition program in a limited resource setting.

5. Strong negotiation and representational skills.

6. Excellent team building, interpersonal and communication skills.

7. Experience in nutritional surveillance, report writing, monitoring and evaluation.

2. TRANSPORT OFFICERS (3 POSITIONS)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Transport Officer will be responsible for driving and maintenance of project vehicle while ensuring that all

Overall Job Purpose: Be responsible for the safety of company vehicles, to ferry security personnel to and from various destinations and maintain the relevant documentation for all trips made.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Respond to Security Alarms whenever required in a team of Back-up crews.
  • Record all movements, fuel, and maintenance report into the company vehicle in the Log book.
  • Carry out a pre start safety check on the company car allocated and confirm that the vehicle is roadworthy and fill in a vehicle prestart safety inspection checklist and report any defects to management.
  • Ensure that the company vehicle allocated is always clean and roadworthy.

NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.
The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 3500 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents.
In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs
Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has been present in Somalia since early 2004 and has since expanded its Horn of Africa Programme to Kenya in 2006 and to Ethiopia in 2011.
Since 2004, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has demonstrated a regional competence and expertise in working with displaced populations.
NRC has mainly focused on Somalis who are displaced by the ongoing conflict and more recently by the drought and famine.NRC’s Horn of Africa operation comprises of large-scale multi-country humanitarian and early recovery interventions spread across seven countries (Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Yemen), and most recently Eritrea and South Sudan.

Job description
  • Drive staff and NRC visitors on official duties, on instruction by Fleet-in-Charge or an approved NRC Horn of Africa, South Sudan  Yemen Mission Officer
  • Maintain a logbook for all trips undertaken
  • Pick, drop and circulate mail, letters, contracts, proposals, documents and cargo/materials to the required destination
  • Operate the NRC designated vehicle in accordance with NRC policies and procedures
  • Maintain assigned NRC vehicle in proper operating condition at all times including fueling, securing, cleaning, timely minor repairs and reporting to the Fleet Supervisor of required major repairs
  • In liaison with the Fleet In-Charge arrange for major repairs and servicing of the assigned vehicle
  • Ensure the assigned vehicle has all the required legal and other documents and equipment including vehicle insurance, vehicle licenses, vehicle logs, first aid kit and necessary spare parts and tools
  • Report immediately eventualities like accidents and breakdowns
  • Assist as assigned by the Fleet In-Charge, in the processing of visas, passports, clearing and forwarding of import and export documentation.
  • Assist in making prompt payments; bank statutory cheque deposits, pay parking fees, fuel and minor repairs.
  • Ensure that all the necessary records and forms related to the assigned vehicles are properly filled and filed as required by NRC policies.
Qualifications
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Pass level of education or equivalent
  • Kenya Public Service Vehicle (PSV) Driving License, Class A, B  C
  • Kenya Police Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Kenya Automobile Association (AA) Certificate of Proficiency in driving.
  • Ability to chauffer Senior NRC staff and high profile visitors.
  • Good language skills (English/Swahili) – Both written and spoken.
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, at least 3 in an urban environment – preferably Nairobi.
  • High level of integrity (possess Good Recommendations of previous good conduct in a similar role)
  • NGO/UN experience desirable but not mandatory.
