Kenya Ports Authority was established by an Act of Parliament on 20th January, 1978 with the mandate to maintain, improve and regulate all scheduled sea ports along Kenya’s Coast.  

In this regard, the Authority manages the port of Mombasa which is strategically placed to serve the commercial, agricultural and industrial hinder land of Kenya and the surrounding landlocked countries. 
The key focus areas of KPA include capacity expansion, productivity improvement, growth in market share as well as safety and security.
 
Due to the tremendous growth of its business, the Authority is seeking to recruit high caliber professionals to support and strengthen its workforce. 
The successful candidates will fill the following positions:

Contracts & Conveyancing Department

Assistant Estate & Rating Officer (2 Posts)
Grade HM4
 
Reporting to the Senior Estate and Rating Officer, the holder will be responsible for ensuring optimum use of Authority’s land and property leased to others; ensuring that the Authority leasing or purchasing of land and property from others is effectively and efficiently managed to the Authority’s best advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the maintenance of accurate survey plans, registers and records of all land and property and registration thereof.
  • Assisting in the valuation of property or land for lease to others or for lease by the Authority.
  • Assisting in the valuation of property or land for purchase by the Authority from the others.
  • Taking vacant possession of properties leased by the Authority and to give vacant possession of KPA properties leased to others.
  • Assisting in negotiating on behalf of the Leasing Committee, renewals of leases for properties leased by the Authority and for KPA properties leased to others.
  • Carrying out valuation of houses acquired by KPA staff through house-ownership scheme.
  • Assisting in verifying land rent and rates that are assessed and demanded by Government and Local Authorities by; inspection of Valuation Rolls, lodging of objections and presentation of Authority’s interests before Commissioner of Lands and Valuation Courts.
  • Collecting and maintaining data on property values and rents, expenditure, costs and expenditures and formulate opinions of value.
  • Conducting searches at the Land registry.
Requirements for the Post
  • Bachelor’s degree in Land Economics, B.Sc. Surveying or any other relevant field from a recognized institution
  • Professional certification in Valuation and Estate Management/Land Management.
  • Good ICT Skills
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar role in a reputable organization.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure competent quality execution of all regular purchasing duties and administrative works.
  • Maintain complete updated purchasing records/data and pricing in the system.
  • Execution and monitoring of all regular purchasing duties.
  • Support relevant departments with quotations for the purpose of tenders.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Responsible for the preparation and processing of purchase orders and documents in accordance with KH policies and procedures.
  • Source, select and negotiate for the best purchase package in terms of quality, price, terms, deliveries and services with suppliers.
  • Negotiate for best purchasing package (in terms of quality, price, term, delivery and service) with suppliers and sub-contractors assigned.
  • Source for new parts, suppliers or sub-contractors when the need arises.
  • Provides required written authorizations, and prepares/issues instructions and  import/export documentation to suppliers, freight forwarders, and/or carriers, to ensure timely and safe arrival of goods, and compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations, Customs regulations etc.,  and  takes necessary action to resolve problems/disputes.
  • Establish and maintain a contract register
  • Develop and maintain a preferred supplier database and ensure information is available to staff.
  • Managing the record keeping requirements of the tender and contracting processes.
  • Develop and maintain a reporting system for contractor and supplier performance.
  • Develop and maintain a reporting system which measures the contribution of the procurement process.
  • Other duties within the scope of the employee’s skills, competence and training as directed.
Minimum acceptable qualifications & experience:       
  • First degree in Purchasing and Supplies or any other business related degree.
  • Professional certification in Purchasing and Supplies.
  • 3 years purchasing experience in a busy organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and focused on service delivery.
  • Integrity and attention to detail.
  • Be able to work unsupervised and meet set deadlines.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Computer literacy essential.
  • Working knowledge of ERP.

Main Responsibilities
 
1.  Establishing, Promoting and sustaining linkages between the community and the clinic
  • Making sure that community reports including adherence issues are communicated appropriately and documented.
  • Form linkages between the LPTF, the community and other stakeholders that will be patient focused.
  • Help define geographical catchments area.
  • Identify CHWs to be trained together with the other community nurses, and conduct the trainings Help establish support groups together with other community staff.
  • Help identify and establish satellite clinics sites in the community.
  • Together with other staff help patients establish support groups.
2. Coordinating and supervising
  • Organize, coordinate and facilitate community activities. 
  • Coordinating community outreach and mobilization activities e.g. support groups, trainings, meetings, referrals and defaulters tracing, HIV testing and give feedback to the program coordinator.
  • Coordinate and supervise community staff working under him/her.
  • Ensure community staffs have the necessary requirement for work including finance.
  • Ensure accountability as per CHAK-CHAP budget and Kijabe Hospital policies.
  • Review and analyze adherence officers and social workers reports including their daily activity reports, enrollments and monthly activities in the region.
3. Home based Care, adherence support and counseling
  • Make sure adherence issues are followed up in the community.
  • Ensure priority home visits /patients follow ups are done and feedback given to the clinician.
  • Make sure support groups are well co-ordinate to enhance adherence.
  • Provide home based adherence support and counseling.
  • Refer patients to clinic for enrolment.
  • Conduct Home- based testing for family members.
  • Assess for O.Is in the homes, treat minor illnesses and refer difficult cases accordingly.
  • Look out for drug related side effect, manage or refer accordingly.
  • Ensure initial and follow up home visits are done by adherence officers.
4. Provide timely and quality regional progress reports as per donor requirements
  • CBTS report
  • PWP report
  • Monthly activity reports.
  • Others as requested by the donor or the program manager.
  • Teens psychosocial template
  • Any other report as deemed necessary by the program manager.
5. Resource management
  • Proper reconciliation of advanced funds within the agreed period of time.

  • Supervising the adherence officers and the social workers on proper utilization of resources.
Minimum acceptable qualifications & experience:
  • Diploma in nursing (KRCHN) or a degree in community development and social work with basic HIV training.
  • Dedicated and highly motivated professional.
  • Desire to see CHAK team fulfill their purpose.
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Has previously worked in the community as a HIV community nurse or a social worker.
  • Three years experience of working within HIV-related field
  • Experience of teaching / mentorship.

  • Conduct client relationship management which will include; assisting clients to determine destination, mode of transportation, travel dates, financial considerations, and accommodations required
  • Promote the tour company using e-marketing
  • Prepare of tour quotations for clients/organization
  • Create and advise the clients on their itinerary
  • Provide customer with brochures and publications containing travel information, such as local customs, points of interest, or foreign country regulations
  • Tracks and notifies travellers of payment received and balance due
  • Promotes tours and generates publicity by attending travel fairs, tour & travel presentations
Required Qualifications
  • Higher Diploma in Tourism Studies, Business Administration or related field
  • More than 3 years of in the tour business
  • Knowledge of geography and travel industry in Kenya as well as the across the globe
  • Good negotiation and planning skills
  • Good at providing positive public relations
  • Able to handle complaints well
  • Good organization skills
  • Able to multitask and coordinate several tour events simultaneously
  • Good communication skill in both oral and written
  • Good customer and Personal Service
  • Finally they should have a good command in English

Our client is a global pharmaceutical company looking to start up in Kenya. 

They seek to hire a Pharmaceutical sales representative whose sole purpose is to detail and sell a range of Ophthalmology and Medical Aesthetical products to Doctors, pharmacies, Optoms.

Job Description: The TM is responsible for a defined geographical area and has accountability for the promotion and sales of a number of Ophthalmology and medical aesthetic brands. At least once a year, the TM has to present his own Territory Plan to his RSM.
In this area, the TM will promote companies brands to a targeted selection of ophthalmologists, optometrists, medical practitioners, pharmacists and other relevant groups. He will do this implementing marketing strategy with the sales materials provided.

The number of initiatives and meetings to be organized will be taken into the individual targets.

The TM should develop and further improve good relationships with the physicians, but also with all members of staff. If relevant, the TM has to understand precisely the standard operating procedure in the hospitals, this in order to get our brands in hospital formularies / tenders

Be present at all major congresses and meetings in your area and if necessary at country congresses and meetings. Take the opportunity to meet and further strengthen his/her relationship with key physicians during these meetings.

Be aware of and report all competitor activities in your area, take appropriate action, if necessary in consideration with your area manager



Keep up to date in reporting on ACE: New doctors, Addresses, Quintiles, Hospitals

Use Electronic Territory Management System to monitor and manage your coverage, targeting and frequency through the analysis reports.

Appropriate use off all communication tools: E-mail, Phone or Fax.

Administration: In time delivery to the management of all administrative things like expense reports.

Act in compliance with the local rules and regulations in the country and set by Health Africa

Monitoring of Stock Levels at local wholesalers and timely reporting of any stock shortages to the SM.

Perfect understanding of the IMS reports that are provided.

Each TM will have the opportunity to organize meetings, presentations and "mini-meetings" in his area. All this will take place respecting the guidelines from his/her manager for the marketplace.

Perfect knowledge of the Ophthalmic and Medical Aesthetic brands and the major competitor brands is "key".

Perfect knowledge of the most important clinical papers in order to ensure the appropriate use of these papers.

Demonstrate a clear understanding of all relevant pathology. The TM must be able to discuss with the physician on an appropriate level, this in order to be convincing and credible.

Demonstrate convincing and influential presentation skills.

Desired Minimum Knowledge, Experience and Ability:

  • University degree in medicine, pharmacy, natural sciences, marketing or commercial
  • (B.Comm)
  • Minimum  3 years of sales experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably with multinationals
  • Good Windows, Excel, Word and Outlook and CRM System knowledge
  • Good spoken and written English.
  • Maintaining SOV leadership in highly competitive environment

Duty Station: The duty station is Nairobi with frequent trips to the project and enterprises sites.
