In this regard, the Authority manages the port of Mombasa which is strategically placed to serve the commercial, agricultural and industrial hinder land of Kenya and the surrounding landlocked countries.
The key focus areas of KPA include capacity expansion, productivity improvement, growth in market share as well as safety and security.

Assistant Estate & Rating Officer (2 Posts)
Grade HM4
Reporting to the Senior Estate and Rating Officer, the holder will be responsible for ensuring optimum use of Authority’s land and property leased to others; ensuring that the Authority leasing or purchasing of land and property from others is effectively and efficiently managed to the Authority’s best advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting in the maintenance of accurate survey plans, registers and records of all land and property and registration thereof.
- Assisting in the valuation of property or land for lease to others or for lease by the Authority.
- Assisting in the valuation of property or land for purchase by the Authority from the others.
- Taking vacant possession of properties leased by the Authority and to give vacant possession of KPA properties leased to others.
- Assisting in negotiating on behalf of the Leasing Committee, renewals of leases for properties leased by the Authority and for KPA properties leased to others.
- Carrying out valuation of houses acquired by KPA staff through house-ownership scheme.
- Assisting in verifying land rent and rates that are assessed and demanded by Government and Local Authorities by; inspection of Valuation Rolls, lodging of objections and presentation of Authority’s interests before Commissioner of Lands and Valuation Courts.
- Collecting and maintaining data on property values and rents, expenditure, costs and expenditures and formulate opinions of value.
- Conducting searches at the Land registry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Land Economics, B.Sc. Surveying or any other relevant field from a recognized institution
- Professional certification in Valuation and Estate Management/Land Management.
- Good ICT Skills
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar role in a reputable organization.
