The Kenya
Trade Network Agency (KENTRADE) is a State Corporation under the National
Treasury
whose mandate is to implement, operationalize and manage the Kenya National Electronic
Single Window System (KNESWS) as well as Trade Facilitation. KENTRADE was established
under an Executive Order and gazetted as Legal Notice No 6 of 2011 on 28th January
2011.
To fulfill
its mandate, KENTRADE wishes to engage suitably qualified candidates who meet the
requirements of Chapter 6 of the Kenya Constitution for the following
positions:
Purpose for the Job
- To identify business opportunities for the Agency and recommend to the Management suitable options on how to explore/exploit them. To continuously engage stakeholders in identification, development and trainings in new techniques in trade facilitation.
- To work with other members of staff to ensure successful implementation and operationalization of the Kenya National Electronic Single Window System (KNESWS)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Continuously carry out research on business opportunities, development & trade logistics improvements to ensure the Agency’s operations is always in line with the best practices
- Planning and carry out direct sensitization/training activities with the stakeholders on the implementation of the Kenya National Electronic Single Window System
- Respond to and follow up enquiries by email, telephone, and personal visits to stakeholders
- Identify business opportunities for KENTRADE and recommend the same to
- Management
- Undertake local and regional trade facilitation projects/initiatives
- Contribute to developing the knowledge base on regional trade, transport and trade facilitation issues
- Prepare reports at the end of every business meetings/Forums and recommend actions the management must take to ensure that the Agency remains stable and relevant
- Work with stakeholders (Public & Private) to reduce transaction costs and improve the business environment in the country 9. Constantly analyze important data related to the business such as business records, operating manuals, business guides and other pertinent documents and ensure they are up to date and relevant to KENTRADE business requirements
- Collect, analyze and maintain trade statistics
- Design and recommend innovative solutions to meet KENTRADE business requirements in line with regional and international best practices
- Prepare the Annual Business Plan for the Section
- Continuously monitor and evaluate progress in the implementation of KNESWS and trade facilitation activities in Kenya and EAC region for business improvements
- Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the level of responsibility of this job role.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Marketing, Business Management, International Business, or related field from a recognized institution.
- A Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, International Trade, or related field from a recognized institution.
- Relevant Professional qualifications.
- Membership to a relevant professional Body
- At least 5 years relevant experience in a similar position
- Experience in Transport, Customs and Trade logistics is an added advantage
- Good Communication and interpersonal skills
- Planning & Organization skills
- Excellent Analytical skills
