CAFOD, one of the UK’s leading international aid agencies, is looking
for a Senior Emergency Response Officer
to cover an internal secondment.
Job Profile
The Senior Emergency Response Officer (SERO) has a global remit
to provide programme management surge capacity for humanitarian programmes. The
SERO will provide leadership within a humanitarian context and have the skills
and experience to lead and manage complex and diverse programmes of work. Working
with partners is central to CAFOD’s humanitarian response and the SERO will
play a leading role in improving and developing the capacity of partners to
prepare for, mitigate the impact of, and respond to disasters by providing
support, expertise and building long-term capacity. The role may also cover the
management of multi-sectoral programmes, the management of international and
national staff, and the management of finances and physical resources. All
roles undertaken by the SERO will have the aim of achieving peace, security and
recovery in accordance with CAFOD’s mission and values.
Your profile
Candidates should have significant experience of operational
emergency programmes and proven ability to lead responses to large scale
emergencies. Candidates should demonstrate past compliance with international
quality standards and good practices such as Sphere, LEGS, HAP and Red Cross
Code of Conduct. Candidates should be able to demonstrate delivery of complex
work within the context of an agreed programme framework and timelines and
management of diverse teams. A commitment to working in partnership and experience
of partner capacity assessments and capacity building is a must.
