Payroll Accountant

The Nairobi office serves as the regional coordinating office providing the required networking to facilitate delivery of services on a timely basis to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations. 

Key roles and responsibilities 

 Timely and accurate processing of the monthly payroll 

 Timely and accurate processing of the monthly payroll journals 

 Timely and accurate submission of all statutory deductions such as PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, HELB and other deductions 

 Maintain accurate records of all monthly uploads 

 Respond to frequent requests for information, reports, employment verifications, audit requests and reconciliation etc 

 Timely and accurate update of payroll records for staff advances/deductions, leavers and joiners 

 Preparation of statutory returns and ensuring compliance to all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, payments and submission deadlines 

 Safe custody of all payroll records 

Qualifications and experience 

 Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Business Administration or related discipline with at least 4 years work experience in finance and payroll accounting 

 CPA or ACCA 

 Excellent awareness of statutory compliance issues in Kenya and general awareness of labour law and practices 

 Strong excel/data analysis and manipulation skills

 Experience with iTAX

 Experience with payroll processing software, Multiple payrolls and multi-currency payroll processing

Skills and attributes 

 High integrity with natural ability to maintain confidentiality and presence of mind when handling payroll and staff matters 

 Good spoken and written English language skills 

 Ability to undertake multiple tasks of an engagement gaining management and supervisory skills 

 Have demonstrable enthusiasm, drive and initiative 

 Be a team player, capable of coaching and developing payroll staff 

 Hands on experience with integrated accounting/payroll packages 

 Attention to details and comfortable with large data sets
