Manager, Program Officer and Monitoring & Evaluation Officer Jobs at EAGI

Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) is a regional membership based organization with a mandate covering ten counties in Eastern Africa. 

The regional headquarter is in Kenya with country offices in Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan and Burundi. 

EAGC is not for profit member organization limited by guarantee whose members are drawn from stakeholders in the grain sector including grain producers / farmers, grain traders/millers, input suppliers of the service providers with a vision “To be the leading voice of the grin sector in Africa”. 


EAGC mission is “To advocate for an enabling environment and promote structured grain trade for optimum stakeholder benefits”.

Country Program Officer – Malawi
 
We seek to fill the advertised position with an individual who is analytical, has good organizational skills, development skills, and is capable of working independently and as part of a team. 

The successful candidate should be highly professional, self motivated and a proven high achiever with good leadership skills.
 
Reporting to the Regional Manager – Marketing, Information Systems & Communication, the successful candidate will be based in Malawi but will oversee the EAGC country operations in Malawi and Zambia and will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Coordinate, manage and implement the EAGC Malawi and Zambia annual work plans.
  • Coordinate, manage and ensure implementation of EAGC Malawi and Zambia programs and projects in line with the established company procedures and processes.
  • Co-ordinate EAGC Malawi and Zambia policy advocacy agenda.
  • Manage all EAGC Malawi and Zambia staff, partnerships and outsourced consultants.
  • Manage EAGC Malawi and Zambia budgets including fund-raising for projects.
  • Provide strategic direction on Membership growth, communication and ensure their involvement in EAGC programs and activities.
  • Manage all administrative functions of the EAGC Malawi and Zambia office including maintaining existing financial systems like petty cash, expenses, mileage claims, income & expenditure records, processing all payments and monthly bank reconciliations.
Qualification, Skills and Experience:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agri-business Management, Economics, Business Administration, or related field (a Master’s Degree will be an added advantage)
  • 5 years’ experience in the private sector, client services, sales, marketing, project management will be preferred.
  • Computer literate.
  • Team player.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Proposal writing and fund raising skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High integrity, initiative and highly organised.
  • Capacity to manage several tasks simultaneously, be flexible and be willing to assume a range of unanticipated assignments.

Manager, Eastern Africa Grain Institute
 
We seek to fill the advertised position with an individual who is analytical, has good organizational skills, development skills, and is capable of working independently or as part of a team. 

The successful candidate should be highly professional, self motivated and a proven high achiever with good leadership skills.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Implement and monitor the Eastern Africa Grain Institute Strategic plan.
  • Coordinate, manage and implement the operating policies and procedures for EAGI.
  • Lead in curriculum design and development and ensure implementation of the training programs.
  • Lead in identifying, developing and implementing the marketing strategy for EAGI.
  • Lead in EAGI budget preparation and management including fundraising for programs.
  • Coordinate the institute’s research programs and manage partnerships with other universities.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements of operating the institute.
Qualification, Skills and Experience:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Education. (A master’s degree in Business Administration / Economics will be an added advantage)
  • 10 years’ relevant work experience.
  • Computer literate.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Team player, people leadership –achieving results through people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High integrity, integrity and business acumen.
  • Capacity to manage several tasks simultaneously, be flexible and be willing to assume a range of unanticipated assignments.

Monitoring & Evaluation Officer
 
We seek to fill the advertised position with an individual who is analytical, has good organizational skills, development skills, and is capable of working independently or as part of a team. 

The successful candidate should be highly professional, self motivated and a proven high achiever with good leadership skills.
 
Reporting to the Monitoring & Evaluation Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Participating in developing systematic and realistic monitoring plans that capture quantitative and qualitative data to report on project performance indicators.
  • Assisting in coordinating the implementation of baseline surveys, follow‐on monitoring and evaluation exercises for various initiatives in the Council.
  • Participating in building capacity of staff on the logical framework, data management, data analysis and results‐oriented programming, monitoring and evaluation methods and principles and report writing techniques and requirements for relevant donors/partners to ensure compliance.
  • Participating in developing program and operational reporting templates.
  • Participating in compilation and dissemination of quarterly, half year and annual program reports and project reviews.
  • Proposing strategies to the projects team for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the project by identifying bottlenecks in completing project activities and developing plans to minimize or eliminate such bottlenecks.
  • Facilitating documentation and reporting of training assessments, program data, lessons learnt and best practices for internal and external sharing.
Qualification, Skills and Experience:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in development related subjects preferable Economics or Sociology
  • 3 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation of development programs.
  • Good knowledge of Program Cycle Management and Development.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Computer skills especially statistical analysis using SPSS, Ms Access, STATA, Excel etc.
  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to manage several tasks simultaneously, be flexible and be willing to assume a range of unanticipated assignments.
