Program description:
This program is
collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute and the US Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention whose remit is to conduct research in malaria,
HIV and other diseases. Due to its continued growth, the program has a vacancy
in the IEIP (IEIP-
TB) project.- Essential requirements:
- Must have Diploma in Diagnostic (Imaging) Radiography from a recognized institution.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in diagnostic radiography, preferably in chest radiography.
- Must be registered/licensed by the Kenya Radiation Board.
- Excellent written and verbal skills in English and Kiswahili. Fluent Luo speakers are encouraged to apply
Skills and Abilities
- Adequate knowledge and skills of operating radiography and film processing equipments
- Knowledge of how to protect clients and the environment from unnecessary radiation.
- Ability to trouble shoot common issues arising while operating the radiography and film processing equipment
- Ability to work as part of large research/Program team.
- Ability to enter and store correct data related to radiography work.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform general radiography work and special radiographic procedures among study participants referred for radiography
- Prepare X-ray processing chemicals and process X-ray films manually
- Process X-ray films using automatic processor
- Ensure the production of high quality x-ray results.
- Carry our routine care of the X-ray machine and processing units
- Ensure all X-ray data is well documented and stored
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures related to chest radiography.
- Work in a professional and ethical manner with competence, accountability and integrity.
- perform digital radiography and store images in compact disks.
- Report challenges encountered in a timely manner.
Terms of Employment:
1 year contract renewable
as per KEMRI scheme of service and a Probation period for the first 3 months.
Remuneration: Compensation is negotiable within a relevant grade, based on
education levels, relevant experience and demonstrated competency. The salary
scheme is based on the KEMRI scales plus supplemental amounts.
