The position is based in Nairobi and
reports to the Deputy Country Director.

We are looking for an individual who is
organized, highly motivated and results-oriented to join a dynamic team and
head the HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria programme in AMREF Kenya and help bring
lasting health change in Africa.
Purpose of the Job:
Provide overall credible leadership to
the HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria programme, providing clear vision, and inspiring
confidence and team spirit among programme staff.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical assistance to the
projects in the programme, to achieve highest standards of quality of services,
performance, and compliance.
Budget monitoring to ensure expenditure
in line with set budgets and in accordance with donor and AMREF financial rules
and regulations
Provide oversight for all donor reports,
evaluation reports, and other reports emanating from the programme and projects
to ensure timeliness and quality.
Provide leadership in identification of
relevant policy issues in the programme and supporting policy advocacy
action/process
Provide leadership in the
identification, development and implementation of relevant operations research
within the programme
Manage internal and external relations
with donors, partners, and collaborators that are stakeholders in the programme
Provide leadership in development of new
project proposals.
Qualifications and Competencies:
The ideal candidate should have a
minimum of a Masters Degree in Public Health or related field with over five
(5) years relevant work experience. The candidate should have experience in
strategic planning, programme development, and proposal writing. She/he should
also have experience in project formulation and management, including
monitoring and evaluation of development programmes and financial management.
Demonstrable HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria programming skills,.
A proven track record of identifying,
developing, and managing complex multi-stakeholder partnerships and
relationships is desirable. The candidate must also have excellent
communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrable skills in leadership
and teamwork.
