Title: Area Manager
CARE Somalia is an International NGO
working in Somalia. CARE and its partners work with vulnerable communities to
address the underlying causes of poverty and promote peace and development,
through its strategic goal to reduce poverty by empowering women, enhancing
access to resources and services, and improving governance.
CARE Somalia Program seeks to recruit a
highly competent, proactive and self-driven person to fill the position of Area
Manager to be based in Nairobi with possible travel to Lower Juba and
Mogadishu.
Purpose of position
- To manage program activities, contribute to strategic planning, lead in the management of all programmatic aspects within the defined geographical area and provide regular technical and managerial support to the local partner(s).
Knowledge, skills and
abilities
- Degree in Water engineering, Nutrition, Public health or any relevant social science field.
- At least 5 years programme experience working in conflict/post conflict context, with preferred work experience in Somalia
- At least 3 years experience in working with IDPs and the host population, preferably in Somalia
- Demonstrated experience in emergency programming
- Proven capacity of managing programs through partners
- Proven budgeting and financial management skills
- Fluency in English and Somali required
