About The Position: 
The Nairobi Operations Manager (NOM)is the chief liaison between Nuru Kenya (NK) and key stakeholders in the Nairobi.

These stakeholders include (but are not limited to): specific ministries within the Government of Kenya (GoK) and the GoK in general; businesses / suppliers; partner organizations (NGOs/ CBOs); and investors.
The NOM will manage the relationships with the aforementioned stakeholders on behalf of NK.
Essential Job Functions
  • Supervisory: Directly manage relationships with the GoK, businesses, NGOs, and investors in Nairobi.
Responsibilities include:
  • Manages a strong working relationship with the GoK ministries on behalf of NK: MoA; MoH; MoE; KRA; NGO Board; etc.
  • Manages a strong working relationship with key business partners on behalf of NK: Yara, commodity exporters, millers, etc.
  • Manages a strong working relationship with universities to NGO partners and potential partners on behalf of NK: One Acre Fund, Living Goods, Komaza, Uwezo, etc.
  • Manages a strong working relationship with key investors on behalf of NK and arrange project site visits.
  • Engages in fundraising
  • Maintains a good working relationship with all staff.
  • Plans and manages stakeholder / funder visits, tours, sessions, etc.
  • Accepts performance-based criticism and direction.
  • Works well under pressure and handles stress.
  • Works a flexible schedule including long hours, evenings and weekends as needed in busy seasons.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/ Experience
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in working with multiple stakeholders: GoK, NGOs, and business.
  • Experience in fundraising.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
  • Ability to perform essential job functions above.
  • Thorough knowledge of the GoK with established contacts.
  • An understanding of the theories of development and its various approaches.
  • A demonstrated commitment to service leadership and a service-focused career.
  • Provides necessary organization, supervisory leadership, and motivation to manage an efficient, holistic development approach.
  • Ability to build and maintain a good working relationship with the Board, Nuru Kenya staff, Nuru International staff, and stakeholders (including community and government).
  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others.
  • Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly across cultures necessary.
  • Ability to creatively problem solve in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in commonly used IT/ office computer applications, such as MS Office, email (Gmail), google calendar, Skype, etc.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed both in an office environment as well as in various government offices. Some work is also expected from the computer at home during evenings and weekends during busier seasons.
  • Travel throughout Nairobi is a regular expectation, using local transport options.
  • Reports to the Deputy Executive Director.
Remuneration
Commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience.
