Action Against Hunger has been present in Kenya since 2001. Currently, ACF Kenya Mission is implementing Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programs in West Pokot, Isiolo, Tana River and Garissa counties, including Dadaab refugee camps.

WASH Programme Manager, West Pokot County (1 position)
ACF Kenya is looking for a dynamic, ambitious and innovative candidate with technical and managerial skills to lead a fast growing Water Sanitation and Hygiene program in West Pokot.
The role of the Program Manager will be to identify and implement high quality and relevant water, sanitation and hygiene activities with a high coverage, in line with the internationally accepted standards, ACF’s technical guidelines and by national policies.
The manager will directly report to the Head of Department and will oversee two WASH officers to carry out community assessments, technical surveys, construction of water points (such as piped networks, boreholes, and shallow wells), emergency interventions where required, scaling up sanitation, health promotion, partnerships/consortia/local NGOs, coordination at County level, monitoring and evaluation of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Project management (including staff and budget management)
- Identify needs and contribute to project formulation and evolution
- Ensure the implementation, monitoring and reporting of WASH projects
- Contribute to program quality and accountability processes and measure program impact
- Participate in the coordination, representation, and partnerships of ACF in his/her area of intervention including Counties and Sub Counties
- Contribute to knowledge capitalization and technical development in his/her sector
- Contribute to consultations on strategy and the positioning of the WASH Department Create synergies with other ACF programs in West Pokot (Nutrition, Resilience)
Qualifications and Experience
- At least Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering/water engineering/structural engineering with extensive experience in water, sanitation and public health
- More than 5 years’ work experience in a humanitarian context, with a focus on long term and resilience building programming.
- Experience with emergency response programs
- Extensive experience in community project management including funds, monitoring and evaluation
- Good knowledge and experience in community mobilization, participation, capacity building
- Ability to work independently, under pressure and within strict time limits
- Ensure program integration with nutrition activities
- Knowledge on GIS, AutoCAD is desirable
Duration of contract: 12 months, renewable depending on funding availability and performance
