TRAINING TEAM INTERN (JOBS AND VACANCIES IN KENYA SEPTEMBER 2013)

Role Description
To provide general training support
  • Deal with all aspects of organising training events and workshops organised by RedR UK in Kenya.
  • Manage the relationship with course participants ensuring they are provided with a high level of customer service.
  • Organise course materials, ensuring all RedR’s training rooms are always tidy and well-stocked with stationery; prepare, compile and copy workbooks and handouts; prepare welcome packs, CDs and flash drives
  • Liaise with Associate Trainers and arrange contracts
  • Deal with all aspects of training finance, including processing course payments, sending and processing invoices, processing travel expense claims, and accurately and efficiently maintaining and monitoring finance records in coordination with the Finance Officer.
  • Work with the team to ensure all the courses are marketed effectively and support the Marketing assistant as required
  • Attend training courses to support the trainers, run the registration desk, manage the catering, and ensure the courses run smoothly
  • Be responsible for post-course work including processing evaluation forms and training impact assessments
  • Ensure all other materials for training courses are ordered and available when required
  • Input & update information on the database and website

To provide M & E support:
  • Data collection and analysis- responsible for collection of information through training evaluations, data entry and analysis to support the on-going monitoring and evaluation of the RedR Kenya Programme
  • Keep the training team up to date with trends observed from assessments and data collected
  • Provide training statistics and data requirements in line with the IP M&E system
  • Monitor indicators within the Theory of Change M&E framework and individual donot log frames to assess progress and impact of the Kenya programme activities
  • Lead in development of local systems and tools to meet the monitoring and evaluation requirements for IP and individual donors
  • Work closely with the IP desk and L&D department in sharing information to feed back into training development and quality control
  • Participate in the design, evaluation and testing of new course material in line with identified needs
  • Provide training and orientation to RedR staff and ATs on RedR’s Theory of Change model for M&E and best practice
  • Work with the training team in undertaking follow up of participating agencies and their staff from selected courses
  • Support the training team, RedR UK staff or external consultants in undertaking evaluations or case studies
  • Any other reasonable tasks or duties as required by line manager or organisation.

Person Specification
  • Marketing experience, ideally in an NGO setting, and a strong understanding of steps needed to engage with and promote training services to key target audiences.
  • Good knowledge of social media channels.
  • Experience of Kenya-based media, particular key contacts in the social affairs/humanitarian sector.
  • A commitment to RedR’s humanitarian mission and values and a strong interest in or knowledge of the East African humanitarian sector.
  • Knowledge of key communications channels used by humanitarian community in East Africa.
  • Experience of brand management / brand adherence.
  • Excellent writing skills, including good grammar, spelling and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including a confident, polite and friendly phone manner.
  • Good MS Office and general computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues in order to undertake tasks.
  • Cheerful, hands-on and methodical attitude.
  • Able to undertake basic administrative tasks such as document and information collation, filing, creating word documents, simple spreadsheets etc.
  • Organised with excellent attention to detail.

  • We would expect you to demonstrate behaviour that is consistent with RedR’s values.
  • You will be provided with a briefing to the role and responsibilities and support where identified either pre assignment or during assignment.
  • We would encourage you to engage in the nature of RedR’s work such as attending country briefings/talks, reading e-bulletins, newsletters and other materials, where available.
  • You are accountable to the Programme Manager in terms of your activities and tasks.
  • The Programme Manager is accountable to you for ensuring a clear role brief, support and for ensuring your health and safety in the workplace.
