Positions: Head of Finance & Administration-HoFA, Protection Coordinator and Programme Support Coordinator at Danish Refugee Council
The Danish Refugee Council is an international non-governmental organization that promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. DRC has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa region since 1997.
The DRC Kenya Program is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:
Head of Finance & Administration-HoFA (Dual Station; Nairobi & Dadaab)
The HoFA is directly responsible for ensuring that DRC Programmes operate in accordance with DRC’s operational standards and comply with donor rules and regulations. The position is a cornerstone in maintaining high quality in DRC’s operations. The HoFA is the overall responsible for the running of the Kenya
Program’s support department. This includes: finance, logistics, human resources, admin and IT.
Requirements:
Minimum: University degree in accounting/management/business administration;
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other relevant certification with at least 5 years senior management experience with international humanitarian organizations in operations, logistics, procurement, finance or HR/Admin; extensive budget management experience in programmes with multiple donors and currencies, broad experience in all dimensions of operations (admin, logs, finance, HR), experience in procurement compliance.
Excellent communication skills (oral & written), good command of computer programs and applications;
knowledge of Navision will be added advantage, experience in training and capacity building national staff, possess strong analytical and conceptual skills, high sense of responsibility and excellent organisational, planning and time management skills, energetic, flexible and willing to work irregular hours
Programme Support Coordinator (Based in Dadaab Refugee Camp)
Under the supervision of the Area Manager, the Programme Support Coordinator is responsible for the planning, supervision and delivery of support services in the DRC Dadaab Field office by enforcing & monitoring adherence to DRC Operational Manual guidelines and donor regulations; and ensuring productive external relations.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Finance/Accounting with 3-5 years management experience at senior management level in refugee or related fields, proven ability to set up administrative systems, possess excellent financial and personnel management skills, fully proficient in Ms Word and Excel spreadsheets; knowledge of Navision will be an added advantage, able to establish and implement sustainable office systems, knowledgeable on security systems and procedures, superior integrity, work habits, and ability to meet deadlines, diplomacy, tact and negotiating skills, strong planning,
organization and problem solving skills with ability to work hands-on, independently, and within team in a difficult work environment, strong communication (written & spoken) and interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with staff from diverse cultures
Protection Coordinator (Based in Dadaab Refugee Camp)
The focus of the role is to ensure development and implementation of protection programming that is efficient,
accountable and measurable. Key responsibilities include: Ensuring overall coordination of DRC’s protection portfolio, including research, programme development and management, and staff training/mentoring, formulating and executing DRC’s NEP protection strategy and contributing to the strategic planning, fundraising, protection mainstreaming in the DRC Kenya programme and development of new protection projects.
Requirements:
Must possess an advanced university degree in relevant field (protection, political science, international relations, law, community development) with at least 5-years relevant experience,
Experience in an equivalent position, involving holding management responsibility, leading teams, working in protection, human rights, gender issues, with refugees, asylum-seekers, migrants and/or other vulnerable populations will be an added advantage,
past experience working with indigenous protection mechanisms, proven experience working in community development and expertise in training on human rights and protection
theories and related tools and methodologies will be crucial in this position.
