About KOMAZA: KOMAZA is an organization currently operating in Kilifi County that works with farmers. Instead of giving aid, KOMAZA invests in farm families by planting top-quality crops that generate life-changing income for families.
Although we work to serve the poor, we operate more like a business than traditional non-profit organizations.
In line with our organizational plans we are looking for a highly motivated, organized, responsible, intelligent and detail-oriented individual to fill the position of Field Manager.
Job Objective: Field Managers are responsible for overseeing KOMAZA’s field operations in their designated project area.

This will involve: staff management (including employee training), community mobilization, logistics management, planning, organization and management of crop planting and crop maintenance as well as coordination with other staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Staff Management – Supervise all of the field staff in your area; working to hire, train, and manage them and ensure that they are performing their jobs satisfactorily.
  • Community Mobilization - Interact with community leaders and other groups to secure support of and assistance with the project. Educate the community on the KOMAZA projects and their benefits.
  • Management of crop planting and maintenance - Manage the proper execution of all crop planting and maintenance activities including the logistics and delivery of tools and inputs to farmers.
  • Track the progress of all farmers and crops and prepare regular reports requiring detailed records for tracking progress.
  • Coordination with the Director of Operations and Continuous Improvement - Report regularly to the Operations Director on the status of all; projects, staff, planting and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain close communication with other head office staff on all matters regarding to our field-based work in your area.

Qualifications & Experience
The candidate needs to possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Forestry or Community Development.
  • Over five (5) years of relevant work experience managing projects and teams of employees; strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Experience mobilizing communities to form self-help groups for various projects.
  • Strong communication skills in Kiswahili and English (Kimijikenda preferred but not required).
  • Computer literate in MS Office (Word and Excel), internet research and email.
  • Driving license required, Experience riding motorbikes preferred.
