Title: M&E Database Specialist
The Monitoring & Evaluation Program for Somalia (MEPS) is a comprehensive support program that provides technical assistance to the Somalia Operating Unit within USAID/East Africa. Part of MEPS’ objective is to support USAID to develop, enhance and maintain a web-based information system.
IBTCI is seeking an M&E Database Specialist to work closely with the MEPS technical team in Nairobi, Kenya to provide support to the design, development and maintenance of the existing database. It is anticipated that this will be a full-time position.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the interlocutor between MEPS Chief of Party and Home Office Team, the software development subcontractor, and external users based in East Africa for the full life cycle: requests, development, test, deployment and admin.
Troubleshoot/ identify gaps or errors in the design of the current system, and clearly and efficiently communicate these to the MEPS technical team and the software developer.
Track and record requests to modify the system, and ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner.
As directed, modify data fields within the system or facilitate requests to modify to the software developer
Serve as the administrator for the creation or maintenance new user accounts.
Qualifications:
A background or understanding of Monitoring & Evaluation is critical to this position; this knowledge should include familiarity with: performance indicators, frameworks/PMPs, monitoring/ verification workflow processes and data quality assessments.
Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the request cycle for web-based applications as well as how data is structured in databases and the interaction between databases and application logic.
Knowledge of SQL and common relational database design patterns is desirable.
Knowledge of USAID projects and terminology is desirable.
Candidates must be self-motivated and quick learners.
