Head of Operations
Reporting to: Director ICT & Operations
Purpose: Under the general guidance of Director, Operations and Technology, and within the limits of the established Bank’s policies and procedures as well as Regulatory requirements, ensures the smooth running of all aspects of Banking Operations.
Station: Based at the Head Office.
Key Performance Areas:
To implement Strategic plan for the Operations Department.
Implement the Bank’s Operations policies and procedures.
Provide leadership, direction and pace to the banking operations team: Branch Operations Managers, Central Operations Unit, Clearing, ABC Support, Cash Management, Bank Security
Effectively manage Operations Projects including Banking Operations Systems
Co-ordinate the implementation, rollout and management of innovative Banking products within the Business.
Effective communication with all departments in the company.
Effectively manage all projects within Operations Department.
Provide accurate and timely Operations reports for the Director Operations & Technology..
Liaise with internal and external providers to ensure efficiency of operations
Represent the Bank in assignment within and outside the Bank on Bank Operations.
Performance management monitoring (Clearing Unit, ABC Unit, Cash Management, Central Operations Unit, Treasury & Trade Finance Back office Operations)
Manage operational and business risks to maximize profitability and minimize costs.
Effectively applying of all relevant banking policies, processes, procedures and guidelines to consistently achieve required compliance standards or benchmarks. This includes CBK prudential guidelines
Training staff on operation policies and procedure
Provide accurate and timely operations reports to the Exco .
Actively support cross -functional teams rolling out the different projects including the Key Business Process Reengineering.
Mobilize deposits and maintain existing business.
Qualifications
A Bachelors degree in Banking or a related field.
CPA/ACIB/AKIB and/or other banking professional qualifications
Have a good understanding of Central Bank regulations, Banking and related policy framework.
Minimum Eight (8) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been at senior management level.
Experience within overall Credit and Sales a plus

Proven ability in management, overall banking operations and Credit.

In-depth knowledge of Central Bank of Kenya prudential guidelines
Excellent grasp of the Bank’s policies and procedures and process re-engineering
Management and leadership ability: Excellent people management skills and ability to lead, motivate and build result oriented teams.
Superior execution skills with a focus on clear, realistic action steps and timelines.
Ability to make sound decisions.
Ability to probe, analyze and synthesize information.
Have good Public Relations/interpersonal skills, have outstanding reporting skills, problem analysis and listening ability.
Creativity and Innovative.
Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to effectively use standard office software tools (Ms Word, Excel, Access, power point, Internet and email) and other office technology.
Personal Attributes: A forward planner with clear focus, mature, reliable, articulate, pro-active and able to work without supervision. Honest and with high integrity.
