Title: Community Liaison and Lands Officer, Kisumu
Job Summary
A mineral exploration company is looking for a young, bright and energetic Kenyan to take up the position of Community Liaison and Lands Officer in Western Kenya.
The job will entail engagement with authorities, landowners and stakeholders prior to undertaking exploration, to facilitate smooth progression of the exploration work, and maintain community relations.
Location: Kisumu, with 60% travel within Western Kenya
Duties and Responsibilities
- Community engagement and sensitization with authorities, landowners, stakeholders
- Environmental monitoring and reporting to NEMA
- Assistance in implementing Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes
- Recording all aspects of the work in hard and soft copy and reporting same to management
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree or Diploma in an environmental, Social Sciences or GIS discipline
- Prior experience with Community Consultation
- Willingness to live in Kisumu
- Willingness to work long hours in the field when necessary
- At least two years job experience in an allied position
- Valid driving licence and sufficient driving skills to pass the Company’s own driving test
- Fluent in verbal Luo and/or Luhya
- A team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- High level of personal integrity and honesty
- Strong computer literacy
- NEMA certification and GIS experience will be a strong advantage
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.
