Internship Description
Angaza
needs a creative, energetic and motivated Technical & Customer Care Officer
to join our team in Kenya. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate
hungry to take on an internship while forging a career in social enterprise. Currently a 6- month
internship role with the potential to become a long-term position as the
organization continues to grow. Responsibilities include in-field technical work;
working closely with customers and partners to ascertain consumer trends;
working on collaborative research in low- cost distributed metering; frequent
travel to field sites across Kenya; and helping to solve any unforeseen and
exciting challenges that emerge in an evolving company environment.
If
hired, you will report to Angaza’s Director of East African Operations and will
receive a stipend.
Job Responsibilities
- In-field technical work – working with solar products, troubleshooting, working with circuit boards and all other related activities
- Conducting surveys - both over the phone and in person
- Recording and reporting of all customer interactions
- Working closely and collaboratively with partners
- Handling customer care phone calls
- Actively participate in operational development discussions
Attributes Desired
- Excellent written and spoken English & Swahili
- Experience in a customer care role
- Experience in market research, familiar with rural Kenyan demographic, capable of careful data collection essential
- Happiness in a dynamic, flexible atmosphere - personable, customer-focused and eager to learn
- Responsible, trustworthy and hard-working – able to balance the big picture with a high level of attention to detail
- Capable of walking several kilometers per day; comfort with physical activity; willingness to spend 80+% of time in-field interacting directly with customers (includes overnight stays)
- Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with a specific focus on circuit design and/or solar energy considered a plus
