About the company:
Develatech is an innovative cook-stove design and manufacturing company with strong dedication to provide innovative cooking solutions to serve people in the bottom of pyramid in Kenya.
Develatech has re-written the rules of stove design with its new patented technology by introducing ‘Jiko Chap Chap’.
Disregarding most conventional design concepts this unique model moves the fire further away from the pot and in doing so achieves a faster cooking, cleaner burning stove that is easier to use than conventional designs whilst providing the option of cooking 2 or 3 pots simultaneously from one fire source.
It is a wood burning stove tailored to suit African styles of cooking, saving 60% wood and reducing harmful emissions by 87% (Nairobi University Sept. 2013).
The result has been proven in real life situation by another study by Eco Frontier Kenya Ltd with evidence of over 60% less fuel consumption than the baseline three stone stoves.
The company was successfully selected as one of the most potential start-ups receiving a grant of USD 22,000 from the Climate Innovation Center Kenya to help expand its business.
So far, Develatech has about 100 clients enjoying the benefits of this unique product.
The founder of Develatech, Jonathan Baker has been designing and manufacturing cook stoves for the last 5 years and is considered an expert in this field.
About the internship program
Develatech has a strong strategic plan in 2014 to develop its business into a next level, so the company is looking for highly qualified candidates to play significant roles for its business development program.
The interns are required to commit working for minimum 3 months (full-time)or 6 months (part-time).
This is an unpaid position but there will be chances for interns to become official employees based on his/ her performance and the business demand.
Scope of work:
- The intern will be assigned different works based on his/ her background and experience, includingbut not limited to the following tasks:
- Market research and database screening, updating and management
- Marketing planning and implementation
- External relationship building
- Procurement and production planning support
- Sales and deals closing
- Administrative and operational tasks
Qualifications requirement:
- Final year or fresh graduate students with degree in business, marketing, management or any other relevant programs
- Excellent communication skill in English and Kiswahili
- Entrepreneurial, self-motivated and a quick learner
- Have good business sense and strong adaptability in a quick changing environment
- Sales experience is an advantage but not required
