We are looking for a Regional Director – Fundraising & Partnerships who will be reporting directly to the Regional Representative of Eastern & Southern Africa Region. The Director will lead the fundraising efforts on behalf of Eastern & Southern Africa Region including planning, managing and ensuring the delivery of an agreed fundraising budget. They will manage and implement a fundraising and communication action plan covering public sector partnerships, foundations and corporate / major donors to the extent of supporting country directors to satisfy current donor needs and maintain oversight of fundraising across the region. We are therefore seeking an experienced and talented professional to oversee country offices implement the donor care strategy and build a fundraising growth strategy.
Location: WWF Eastern & Southern Africa Regional Program Office in Nairobi, Kenya
Main responsibilities:
- Design fundraising strategies to generate sustainable income to meet ambitious Managing all fundraising roles and dotted line responsibility for communications related to fundraising, grant management, reporting and M&E
- Build a culture across the office of pursuing the opportunities that offer the highest level of funding, are multiyear, GPF and prioritise those that offer the most unrestricted funds and the least reporting strictures.
- Developing reports and systems so that fundraising income is analysed and reported on each year.
- Prioritise, organize and lead proposal development where appropriate for the highest opportunities especially trans-boundary work.
- Implementing and monitoring the Donor Care Plan, which will involve working across the network to set up training for relevant colleagues in programmes to improve donor reporting and management.
- Working across the organization to ensure that fundraising is maximized (systematically working with NO’s and Int’l at programme and fundraising level)

What you need:
- Advanced university degree in an appropriate field (conservation / environment / institutional development, business management / administration);
- At least seven years institutional fundraising experience and strategic planning experience. Ideally the candidate would already possess key relationships with major donors such as the EU, UNDP, DFID, SIDA, NORAD, DANIDA
- Broad working experience and good knowledge of conservation and development issues in Eastern & Southern Africa and Africa in general, with at least five years of experience in the region
- Knowledge of the international development and donor community in Eastern and Southern Africa, as well as of relevant policy issues;
- Proven success in developing and executing innovative and highly leveraged fundraising
