The United Nations Population Fund is an international development agency that

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Representative/humanitarian coordinator and
the direct supervision of the head of Sub-office Puntland; the Humanitarian officer, being
based in Galkayo will support the design, planning and management of UNFPA’s
humanitarian response programming.
He/she is anticipated to support in creation of substantive knowledge by compiling,
synthesizing and analyzing information relevant to humanitarian response.
The incumbent will perform the following duties:-
In collaboration with government counterparts, UN Agencies, L/INGOs assist in
the implementation of annual work plans of reproductive health in line with
government priorities and in accordance to UNFPA programme policies and
procedures.
Assist in preparing an inventory of humanitarian and relief partners, including
national and international NGOs in Puntland and south / central Somalia and
establish a monitoring mechanism/system for RH kits and commodities that takes
into account warehouse capacity, access, utilization rate, coverage and
distribution;
Contributes to the development/revision of monitoring tools and track progress
through consolidation of service reports of IPS
Represents UNFPA in cluster meetings in Galkayo and other regions of Puntland
whenever required and ensure flow of information from the meetings is shared
with Somalia CO through Puntland office & Contact Group meetings organized
by OCHA and Provide information to the CO for the IASC meeting when
necessary
Assist with the overall coordination, design and monitoring of RH&GBV
component within the humanitarian response programme of the work of UNFPA
in Puntland.
Supports the coordination and effective implementation of the RH&GBV
component of the humanitarian response Programme including the development
of AWPs with IPs.
Monitors projects expenditures and disbursements to ensure delivery is in line
with approved project budgets and to realize targeted delivery levels, and
coordinates timely delivery of quality project and financial reporting and ensures
adequacy with finance and activities of RH and GBV AWPs of IPs
Ensure regular updates on UNFPA’s humanitarian activities are included in the
monthly reports of UNFPA and Somalia humanitarian periodic and bulletins of
health and protection clusters
Carries a periodic mapping RH/GBV service facilities and help in developing
training plans in GBV prevention and response.

Qualifications and Experience Required
-Advance degree in social sciences, public health, and nursing, medicine, Gender or other
related social science / development studies.
-A minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience in humanitarian field
or related field
-Field prior experience in the UN system will be an asset
Experience in reproductive and sexual health with preferably some experience on gender
and development issues
-Proficiency in English required; knowledge of Somali language is MUST
-Initiative and sound judgment. Dedication to the United Nations principles and
demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with concerned partners
Educational requirements:
•Advanced Degree (Masters) or equivalent in social sciences public health, and nursing,
medicine, Gender or other related social science / development studies.
•A first level university degree with a combination of relevant academic qualifications
and experience or other related field may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university
degree with 4 years of experience.
Language requirements:
Proficiency in English required; knowledge of Somali language is essential.
